Classroom Procedures
4th Grade Alphabet
*Here is a brief overview of 26 classroom procedures*
A is for… Attendance- Much of our learning will take place together in class. We do lots of hands-on activities and group work. Please plan to attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency.
B is for… Book Orders and Book It- Just about once a month, a book order form will come home from Scholastic. This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively, while helping our class earn points towards books and other classroom materials. This year our class will also be participating in Pizza Hut’s popular reading incentive program, Book It. Each month, your child will be assigned a reading goal and once they have completed the goal, they will fill out the provided form. Once the form is returned to Mrs. Young, they will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza.
C is for… Communication- Please feel free to contact me by email ([email protected] ), call me at Providence Elementary or text me using Remind, with questions or concerns at any time. You can also send a note in with your child and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
D is for… Dismissal- School ends at 3:45. You must send a note to school if your child is to go home a different way than his/her normal schedule- especially if he/she is to ride a different bus or is going to be picked up.
E is for… Emergencies- Please make sure we have the correct emergency information on file for your child. If phone numbers change, you can call or send a note so that your child’s file can be updated.
F is for… Field Trips- Our class will be going on an end of the year field trip this year. If you would like to chaperone this trip, please let me know. Clearances must be completed; the process takes quite a while! Field Trip permission slips must be returned for your child to attend.
G is for… Graded Work- All graded work will come home in the Horse folders. You can check your child’s progress using the Power School website.
H is for… Homework- Homework will be assigned almost daily, Monday through Friday. Homework assignments will be recorded in the agenda each day. Please check the agenda and initial is nightly. Also, please encourage your child to complete the work each night and brings it back to school the next day. If the work is not completed, students will be asked to complete it during recess.
I is for… Important Information- if you have any important papers that need to come to school, please send them in your child’s HORSE folder. These will be checked each morning.
J is for… Job well done! When your child has accomplished a “job well done” in class, they may be asked to hang it up on their cubbies or in classroom and hallway.
K is for… Kindness- We will learn about being kind to others and ourselves every day. Providence Elementary has a zero tolerance policy for bullying.
L is for… Lunch- Our lunchtime is from 11:00 – 11:30. If you would like to come in during this time, be sure to sign in at the office and pick up a visitor’s pass!
M is for… Money- When sending money to school, please put it in an envelope (with your child’s name) and send it in the HORSE folder. This folder will be checked each morning and I will ensure the money makes it to the right place.
N is for… Newsletters- Newsletters with class updates and pictures of classroom happenings will be sent home frequently. Look for these in the HORSE folder.
O is for… Open House- Thank you to all of those who attended this special night. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
P is for… Parties- If you would like to help with a class party or provide snacks or favors, please let me know.
Q is for… Quick and Quiet Hellos- As you volunteer in our classroom or our building, I will urge your child to acknowledge you with a “Quick and Quiet” wave hello. It is very important for them to greet you, but remain involved in class activities.
R is for… Reading- Students are expected to read at home every night, as part of their nightly homework. Encourage them to bring their library books home to read.
S is for… Snacks- Your child may bring in a daily snack. Since we eat so early in the day, we will have a time in the afternoon for a quick, power snack! Please remember that healthy snacks are best!
T is for… Tardies- Students should be at school by 9:00. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.
U is for… Understand- I am a parent too. I have a child in Kindergarten and in third grade at Clermont. Life gets crazy sometimes! If you forget to return a paper or send in a form, don’t worry, I understand!
V is for… Volunteers- We love volunteers! Please let me know if you’d like to help and we can find a classroom job for you!
W is for… Website… our class moodle site is updated throughout the year. Check it out for updates!
X, Y, and Z are for… I am Xcited to work with You and Your child this year! Make sure he/she gets plenty of Zzzzzz’s each night as we have exciting days planned for this year!
